APPLICATION

For the application of this product, we advise to view the instruction video below.

Make sure the wall has been painted with a coat of Piet Boon Paint & Plaster Wall Primer.

Stir thoroughly before use. For the application use a small roller, a small brush for corner work and a small trowel for smoothing. Start applying a thin coat of lime plaster. Use a small paint roller and a small brush to fill corners. Start at the top of the wall. After having done approximately one square meter, smooth the plaster with the trowel. Gradually work your way down and to the sides of the wall. Always finish your wall in one go, usually, one coat of lime plaster is enough for great results. A second coat creates more texture and depth of colour. You will experience more suction when applying a second coat and you may need to apply smaller areas before smoothening with a trowel.

* Coverage per m2 is dependent on surface, thickness of application and calculated on one coat.

Can you apply lime paint and lime plaster in bathrooms?

Yes. Lime Paint and plaster has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and is very well suited for use in wet rooms. Do not expose lime paint and plaster to direct water, such as in shower cubicles. To protect walls in wet rooms, apply several coats of our special sealer.

Is it washable?

Lime paint and lime plaster are porous and become a solid part of the surface but also of a stain. Without further protection, stains are very hard to remove. To make lime paint and lime plaster more water/stain repellent, we recommend applying several coats of our special sealer. The first coats need to be dilute with 20 % water. Apply coats until the surface is fully saturated. Applying too thick coats or irregular coats may lead to white patches becoming visible on darker colors.

Lime paint and plaster need a mineral surface to adhere to. Although it is dependent on the surface, we recommend to always apply a coat of Piet Boom wall-primer as an undercoat.

Can you also apply lime paint and lime plaster with a roller?

No because a roller will leave traces of pigment and overlapping patches. These patches will remain visible.

How do you apply lime paint and plaster?

Lime paint is applied with a wide brush with soft but long fibers. This creates a nice texture and a charming effect. The best results are achieved when you apply lime paint from a dry area into a wet, already painted area. Lime plaster is a very thick paint.
